Various materials can be spread with ease whether it be grass seed, top dressing, fertiliser, sand, salt or grit as long as it's loose and not compacted. The rate and flow of the material is controlled by the rate adjusting lever attached to the handles, this opens or closes a gate in the bottom of the hopper and as the material falls it is propelled by the spinner that is activated by pushing along the ground.
